VI Day Appeal from US military service members:
As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to declare a day of Victory in Iraq. The Iraq war has brought democracy to the Middle East and dealt a humiliating defeat to Al-Qaeda. The heroic efforts which made this possible must be acknowledged.

Pres. Obama is giving the impression everyone shared his lack of hope on Iraq.  The data doesn't support the claim.

There was never any question of America losing the war militarily, the real risk was whether we would lose politically.
