The undersigned military service personnel hereby express their heartfelt appreciation for your honor, integrity, and courage in support of victory in Iraq. You have supported our mission to bring democracy to Iraq when it was politically unpopular and the path was difficult. Your perseverance in the face of adversity has dealt a serious blow to Al-Qaeda and the ideology behind the 9/11 attacks while setting the course of freedom for millions in the Middle East. You have earned our respect and gratitude.

There was never any question of America losing the war militarily, the real risk was whether we would lose politically.
